Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most popular school microscope model from your range?
The SLM-MSB-100 compound binocular microscope is our most popular school model. It provides 40x, 100x, 400x, and 1000x magnification with a bright LED illuminator, wide-field 10x eyepieces, and coarse/fine focus — covering all secondary school biology practicals from cell observation to bacterial staining. It is used by schools in Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Bangladesh, Philippines, and 60+ other countries.
What is the difference between a monocular and binocular microscope for schools?
Monocular microscopes (one eyepiece) are lower cost and suitable for primary school and early secondary. Binocular microscopes (two eyepieces) provide a more comfortable viewing experience, reduce eye fatigue during extended use, and give a slightly three-dimensional perception. KNEC and WAEC both accept both types for practical examinations. For senior secondary schools, we recommend binocular microscopes.
Do you supply teaching microscopes for class demonstrations?
Yes. Our teaching discussion microscopes (SLM-TM-5H and SLM-TM-9H) allow a teacher and 4 or 8 students to view the same slide simultaneously. This is ideal for live demonstration during biology lessons. The teacher uses the primary head to focus on a specimen while students view identical images through their own eyepieces.
Can your digital microscope be connected directly to a classroom projector?
Yes. The SLM-DM-HDMI digital microscope connects directly to any HDMI projector or HDMI television with no computer required. The teacher can project a live microscope image to the entire class at the same time. This is increasingly popular for class demonstrations in schools where individual student microscopes are not yet available.
What warranty do your microscopes carry?
All schoollabmanufacturers.com microscopes carry a 24-month manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Optics (objectives and eyepieces) carry a separate 12-month warranty. We stock spare objectives, eyepieces, and bulbs for all models. Warranty claims are processed via email — we send replacement components or arrange repair at no cost during the warranty period.
